Current hardware.
Macbook Air M3, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd iPad Air M2, 128gb iPhone 11 Pro Max(The longest serving phone I have ever owned)
I have been using Macbook' next to Linux hardware for many years, I started out with MacOS 7 on a Macintosh when I was around 21, I have used OS 8 and 9 on different hardware until I bought my first Mac OS X laptop when I was in my 30's. Although I would often use a Windows based laptop, mainly for work related projects I never really owned a Windows computer other than an old MS DOS 6.22 with Windows 3.11 desktop, I just found the combination of Mac and Linux to be an excellent pairing for development and for some light gaming. I have found the M3 powered Macbook to be excellent for a mobile development platform, the combination of power and battery usage to be one of the best I have ever used, I know that Snapdragon are on a par with Apple in some areas and even exceeding them in certain areas, and I look forward to my next Linux laptop being Snapdragon powered. One of the biggest reasons to keep using Apple hardware is for (sadly) Microsoft Office, the company I currently work for still uses documents that will not open correctly in other applications like Pages or Libre Office. So for the moment until my job changes I still have a requirement for Word, while I am also studying for my degree I might as well use it for my assignments as well. The other parts of the Apple ecosystem are the huge collection of Audiobooks I have, as well as a few books, I travel a lot and can be away from home for months on end, so I have built up quite a collection of Audiobooks and books. There is also the interconnection of Apple hardware that I do find very useful, like being able to use the iPad as a second screen (either wireless or connected) which I find very useful when I am doing work on a project. |
