A bit about me!

Welcome to the wonderful world of the quiet one, geek, nerd or whatever else we are called these days, I prefer the term
hacker, I play with computer hardware to see what works and how it works. I have always been keen to dismantle, build and
often rebuild computers and anything electronic from the age of about 8 I guess.

I started out with computers in the late 80’s with the Commodore 16 and I guess I fell in love with computers, tech and
science fiction from that day, I honestly don’t remember a period when I didn’t have a computer in my life. Having
cycled through almost every Commodore, Sinclair computer and many other systems I wound up on IBM compatible computers
in the early 90’s, then after the horrors of many iterations of Microsoft operating systems, I found or rather stumbled
            on something amazing.

In the early to mid 90’s I found both BSD operating systems (NetBSD, FreeBSD) and something new from Finland in the form
of Linux, I was hooked from the first time I used these new systems (after a 4-day download!). Although I maintained a
Windows based computer for work purposes, I did have another system I used for Linux and BSD.

From these beginnings I expanded my knowledge in software development with C, C++ and x86 assembly, with both Linux and
various BSD’s I have used, from these beginnings I have been able to include HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python.

I have used most major and minor operating systems in my lifetime, and hardware from the early eighties to current RISC
machines, being a person who is keen on recyling systems (I dislike the amount of e-waste we have) I am usually at my happiest
when I tinkering with a system with Linux.
